"Xtra" is our singleton puppy from the X-Files litter of Xen and Dash. She is absolutely stunning with a personality to match. Special from the day she was born, she has quickly become my heart dog and one of my best friends. She and I have an amazing partnership, and I love her biddable nature, grit, and team player personality.
Xtra earned her Novice Trick Dog title through Do More With Your Dog on 9/29/20 at just seven weeks of age! This title requires the dog to learn and demonstrate fifteen tricks. She has been a fun dog since day one.
We started taking Xtra herding in a low-pressure environment, off and on beginning when she was around four months old. Progressing quickly in her training, Xtra now is working on polishing her advanced skills for AKC, AHBA, and ASCA trials (possibly USBCHA if her handler can get a little boost in the bravery department). She works sheep, cattle, and ducks very well. At the age of only ten months old, Xtra earned her very first herding title, HT, on 6/27/21 at the Idaho Herding Association AKC trial. She earned her first two Started A Course Sheep legs with high scores and placements on 9/4/22 at the Cascade Australian Cattle Dog Club AKC trial. She finished her title at the 2022 BCSA national specialty at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, MO, with placements! In her Intermediate debut, Xtra earned her HIAs title in three straight Q/1st place runs, including a HIGH IN TRIAL from the Intermediate A class, as well as High Combined score for the entire trial weekend. Xtra is currently competing at the advanced level in sheep and ducks in AKC, and will begin working on her herding championship in short order! She also has one Q towards her Started B Course title on sheep. She is a multiple High In Trial, Reserve High in Trial, and High Combined winner.
Xtra earned her Versatility (V) title through BCSA in the summer of 2023. She even learned a new sport: Fast CAT! She had a blast learning to chase the lure and running full speed, and I loved seeing the joy in her face at the end of every run. Looking forward to pursuing her VX and beyond in the years to come! She also has her Champion Excellent title from BCSA, which is awarded to dogs with an AKC Champion title and a trial-level herding title.
In 2024, we decided to try a new sport to us--Barnhunt! Xtra earned her Instinct and Novice titles with ease after just a few practices. I'm excited to learn more about the sport and hopefully earn more titles in the future!
Xtra began her career in conformation in the fall of 2022, earning back to back majors at her first show and a competitive Bred-By Exhibitor Group third! She then followed up her debut with fourth place in a large and quality-filled Bred-By Exhibitor class both days at the BCSA National Specialty. She also recently earned a Bred-By Exhibitor Group 1st! Xtra finished her AKC Championship on 4/8/23, in only four weekends including the national specialty. Along the way, she earned four majors, a BOB over specials, a regular variety Group 4, two NOHS group placements, a Bred-By Exhibitor group win, and two Bred-By Exhibitor group placements. She also earned her first GCH point, her first day as a special. She finished her Grand Champion title with ease in seven straight shows, with multiple BOB/BOBOH wins. She recently earned another regular variety Group 4, several more NOHS group placements and wins, a NOHS BEST IN SHOW, and a NOHS Reserve Best in Show!!! She currently has 71 points towards her Bronze Grand Championship.
Xtra finished in the Top 5 NOHS Border Collies, Top 15 Breed, and Top 20 All Breed Border Collies in America for 2023. She is the top-winning owner handled tricolored Border Collie in breed history. We are very proud of her!
